Elon Muskhas criticized the filmmakerChristopher Nolan, alleging that the Oscar-winning director has compromised his "integrity" due to his casting decisions.
Nolan is currently in the process of finalizing the editing stage ofThe Odyssey, his version of the ancient Greek epic by Homer.
The movie will showcase a top-tier ensemble with Matt Damon. Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Mia Goth, and Benny Safdie are also part of the cast.
Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, who identifies as Black, is also said to have been added to the cast. Social media reports indicate she will portray Helen of Troy.
In reaction to the news, a user on Musk's platform X commented: "Helen of Troy was white-skinned, had blonde hair, and 'the face that launched a thousand ships' due to her stunning beauty, which led men to start a war over her. Casting decisions that render the premise illogical are acknowledgments that the story was never the focus and a disrespect to the author."

Musk, who has over 233 million followers on the social media platform he controls, shared the post using his account.responseChris Nolan has compromised his principles.
Some users disagreed with Musk, one of them stating: “‘The Odyssey’ is a legend. There is no historical proof that Helen of Troy ever lived, so she can be beautiful in any skin tone. Casting a stunning Black woman does not contradict anything written in any form or manner from thousands of years ago. Just refer to Homer.”
Another highlighted Helen of Troy's unusual mythological origins, stating: “I want everyone to go and search online who Helen of Troy's parents are, how they met, how they had a relationship, how Helen came into existence, return, and then attempt to discuss historical accuracy with a straight face.”
The same user continued: “I'm stating that if an eternal God transformed into a Swan, engaged in a forced relationship with a white or any woman, and that woman produced an egg, which then hatched into Lupita, her being black wouldn't be my initial thought.”
In newly released video footage from earlier this week,it was revealed that rapper Travis Scott will appear in his first acting role inThe Odyssey.
A preview clip features Bernthal's Menelaus and Holland's Telemachus having a discussion in a dining hall, as Scott's musician-style character rises and strikes a staff against the floor to alert them of an approaching conflict.
"A conflict, a man, a scheme to dismantle the walls of Troy and reduce it to ashes," he declares.
The Odyssey, released in cinemas on July 17, showcases Damon's portrayal of Odysseus, ruler of Ithaca, as he embarks on his return journey following the Trojan War.
