Athletes received a four-day hiatus from Friday through Wednesday, after which they came back and stepped onto the field to keep getting ready for the 2026 campaign.
May, along with RichmondMidfielder Dion Prestia faced allegations of affray after a 2024 altercation in Sorrento. Both individuals are contesting the charges.
The experienced player was advised to seek a different clubduring last year's trading period with Melbourne, but eventually remained for the final year of his contract.
May played a crucial role in Melbourne's 2021 premiership effort, with their achievements during that period leading to selection in All-Australian teams in both 2021 and 2022.
His profession has been accompanied by debate, nevertheless.
In 2022, he was involved in a confrontation with teammate Jake Melksham at a well-known Victorian restaurant, resulting in the forward needing hand surgery.
Last season May was observed shouting at captain Max Gawn during the gamefollowing a close defeat by Collingwood.
Speaking on Monday, Port Adelaide legend Kane Cornes raised doubts about whether May should still be retained, as the Demons begin a new chapter under the coach.Steven King.
"When does a player become too much of an issue? I'm referring to Steven May," Cornes said to SEN.
I'm definitely not claiming he's guilty of anything, but it's yet another news report concerning a player who has consistently caused issues for quite some time.

Steven May isn't even close to that standard anymore, and considering they've let go of Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca, it seems like a fresh football club with a new coach... but we're still dealing with this individual creating issues outside the field.
When the club is aiming for a new beginning, seeking to restore a culture that was highly questionable, they have parted ways with Simon Goodwin, Oliver, and Petracca - however, Steven May continues to appear in the Herald Sun for matters not related to football.
May has participated in 251 matches for Gold Coast and subsequently Melbourne throughout his 15-year professional journey.
