Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) appeared on television on Tuesday to strongly deny one of the most controversial claims regarding her conduct behind the scenes, which was featured in New York Magazine this week — however, a former employee responded with a fierce rebuttal.
Mace, who has drawn notice in recent years for a range of issues including an exceptionally loud anti-LGBTQ campaign, claims that her ex-fiancé raped her, and threats toshow footage of her bare body in a House committee roomto demonstrate this, is currently campaigning for the governorship of South Carolina in a competitive race to succeed outgoing Governor Henry McMaster.

The piece, which interviewed several individuals who have worked under her andbe concerned about her declining mental health, claimed among other things that Mace has a serious issue with alcohol and cannabis, and instructed her congressional staff to make alcohol purchases for her in breach of House regulations.
Mace disagreed with that specific claim made by the right-wing Newsmax 2 channel, not only rejecting it but suggesting she rarely consumes alcohol.

"Absolutely not," Mace saidIn reply to inquiries about whether her staff delivered her alcohol during the night, she said, "I go to bed very early. I'm nearly 50. I'm in bed by 9. No one has visited my house after midnight... If you checked my security system, these claims would be clearly false."
She added, "I'm not permitted to drink or have much alcohol" due to her long-term diagnosis of hemochromatosis, which is excessive iron in the blood, and consuming alcohol under this condition will "harm your organs and lead to an early death, and I enjoy life."
Natalie Johnson, a former employee of Mace, cried foulregarding these allegations, even revealing a surprising fact to counter Mace's assertion.
Nancy Mace stating she doesn't consume alcohol could be the most amusing, bold deception she has ever uttered," said Johnson. "The woman drank so heavily that she had interns or junior employees fetch liquor from the Congressional Liquor during work hours so she could have a drink while conducting phone town halls.
