Victoria is "going through" talks with star seamer Fergus O’Neill following a report that he is considering a surprising move to NSW.
CODE Sports reported that NSW and the Sydney Sixers were attempting to lure the star fast bowler and Australian Test player, known as the 'smokey', from Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming season.
A charismatic presence and influence on the red ball have made O’Neill a highly sought-after asset for Victoria.

He was named the Sheffield Shield player of the year in the previous season and has a notable first-class batting average of only 20.51.
Victorian coach Chris Rogers commented on O’Neill's future following his team's One Day Cup victory over Queensland on Tuesday.
Rogers mentions that he enjoys working with O’Neill and wishes the contract talks "can be resolved soon."
"I'm a fan of Ferg, coaching Ferg, and he enjoys playing for Victoria," Rogers stated.
Like every athlete, he desires to feel appreciated, and I believe all sides are collaborating to ensure he is in the right position and that everyone is satisfied.
These are events that occur during a player's career, but I am aware he understands the extent of our support and belief in him, and I hope this matter will be resolved soon.
To some degree, I am engaged, but those choices are made slightly beyond my level.

If O’Neill were to join the Blues and Sixers, he would have a new coach, as both teams recently dismissed experienced coach Greg Shipperd.
Rogers, who was mentored by Shipperd while he was an athlete, expresses sympathy for any coach who faces termination.
"I have communicated with him, I feel sorry for him," Rogers stated.
I reach out to every coach who loses their position. It's a challenging period, and based on my experience, it holds significant meaning for the path you're traveling.
Shippy remains just as enthusiastic now as he was when he coached me, or even prior to that, so I understand this will be a letdown for him.
But once again, these are choices that belong to others, so it's not my place to judge.

Victoria will introduce rookie Dylan Brasher when they face Queensland again as the Sheffield Shield resumes on Thursday.
Rogers expressed great admiration for Brasher, stating that the left-arm bowler has "a promising future."
"I believe you can anticipate a fighter, a person who has taken the necessary actions and deserves his place in the team," he stated.
I observe him, from a personal perspective, there has been a significant amount of intimate and detailed effort put into his game, and I have never once heard him complain or act in any way other than open-minded.
I believe he's a young person with a promising future. If he continues to develop at his current pace, I think he'll have an outstanding career.
